Given doxycycline for wide range of infections
Written by admin on October 20, 2009 – 5:36 pmI was having a regular checkup with my doctor and I was found to have UTI or urinary tract infection. This case was actually a chronic one for me as it was so common for me to have this infection at least twice a year and this time around, I was given a the usual dose of antibiotics to take and it was Doxycycline that was most commonly given to me. It was actually funny but the first time I took this antibiotic doxycycline was not for urinary tract infection but for malaria as there was a point in my job where I was assigned to tropical countries like Indonesia and Malaysia and I was asked to take this when on my first week back there I developed fevers and the doctor in our team gave me doxycycline back then as a precaution against malaria as this was prevalent in these warm weathered tropic countries. That was my first encounter with this drug back then so I was surprised when I came back here and started having urinary tract infection and was prescribed this drug and I even asked the doctor why this as this was the same given to me for malaria sometime back. It was explained that this is one of the first line of antibiotics given for bacterial infections and usually when bacteria becomes resistant to this drug, then that is the time more powerful drug or antibiotics are prescribed like Zithromax or Bactrim and other stuff. In fact this is easily prescribed to me when I log in to www.theonlineclinic.co.uk where I usually get my prescription when I don’t have time to go to my doctor and so far I am lucky I haven’t developed any resistance to this drug and I could say it is still effective for me.
